Hmmm What's going on here Part 2

Sadly, there was no possible way to save the artwork that was underneath.  So it had to come off.

(note:the bondo on the right side of the pic was not done by me, it was one of the sections that the artwork was missing.)

Let's yank off that World Series Control Panel, and see what's underneath, shall we?

Surprisingly in good shape, They managed to mount the World Series panel without cutting up the original panel... wish they would have left the art underneath though... Either way, the Asteroids Deluxe panel should suit our needs quite well.

Maybe a little paint?  Lets start with White, maybe?
(yeah I know it looks like crap, that's just the first coat)

Part 3 coming soon...

Hmmm what's going on here

World Series the Season in an Asteroids Deluxe.

What should we do with this monstrosity?

(Beginning note: Nothing at all was left from the original AD except the power brick, which was actually bypassed and a switching power supply installed, and the control panel, which no longer had an overlay.  The cab is in pretty rough shape, probably meant more for the burn pile, but I figured I would have some fun with it, and maybe breathe some new life into this poor neglected beast.  So if you are one of those purists who think anything but restoring this back to a pristine Asteroids Deluxe would be blasphemous, you may want to skip this series.  No I'm not going to put a 60-1 in this, I said I was going to have some fun, remember?)

So what do we have here?  Who in the world thought this was a good idea?
Sad part is the Cabinet had to be modified pretty extensively to make this "work" (and I use that term loosely, this thing was a real pain to play)  Well time to deconstruct and see what we have here...

Black paint on the side, lets see what's underneath...  The Sideart is still there!!! But...

Ugh, it's in pretty sad shape.  And this paint is not coming off easily (guessing it's oil based and not latex)

Hard to tell in these pictures, but it is in really rough shape, and there were areas where it was completely gone.  Plus it was starting to pull off of the cabinet (not sure if that was because of the stripper being too aggressive or because of age/wear.
Man, A.D. had some friggin sweet sideart, even in this rough condition, still looks awesome.

Part 2 coming soon...

Multi-Williams Side Art Installed

After sitting in a box for over 7 years, finally got around to installing the side art on my Multi-Williams project.  Didn't screw it up too bad either.
Still has a long way to go.
