New Addition to the Project pile

Just picked up a World Series- The Season in an Asteroids Deluxe cab from Nick in Sherman, IL (Nixs on Klov) for $40
Pics coming soon. Has some monitor issues,, but otherwise is fully working, including the goofy joysticks that always seem to be broken. Sides are painted black, but it appears the AD sideart underneath is in pretty good shape... might just strip it down and see what's there for the heck of it.

Two Tron's on the bay in Illinois

That's right, not one but two Tron games both fully working are up for auction on the bay... Both are in relatively good shape, and both happen to have the gorf style black joystick... odd. Of course the replacement stick is now available at GroovyGameGear
Links below:
Tron 1 in Lake in the Hills

Tron 2 In McLean IL

If anyone needs someone to pick up/store the Tron in McLean, I can do so for a small fee, as John is only about 15 minutes away from me, email me if interested.

Interesting Arcade Collecting Post

If you've ever wondered what goes into finding those rare nuggets, or just generally what goes into finding games, or even the trials and tribulations of the average collector, this article is a great read!

http://www.tollianweb.com/uc/Cosmic_Chasm_Cube_Quest.html

One quote from the above posting:
On April 28, 2007, I was moving a pinball game, carrying the head down three flights of stairs. Not a really heavy item, but bulky with no good place to grab it. Just as I started the last flight, I stubbed my toe into the carpet on the stair. My shoe stuck to the carpet a little bit. Normally wouldn’t have been an issue, but holding the head of the pin, it spun me around and I lost my balance. At the last second, I released the pin head and grabbed for the banister. My fingers grazed it, but not enough to hold on. I tumbled backwards head over heels about four times down a flight of 24 stairs, with the head of a pinball game bouncing down about a half second ahead of me. I heard the pin head crash onto the floor and the back glass explode and I mentally braced for some pretty bad cuts. As it turned out, as with most pinball back glasses, the glass was safety glass and shattered into about a million very small pieces. I didn’t get a single cut, didn’t shed a single drop of blood. However, I shattered my right hip, broke it in three places, splintered it, fractured it and sliced it open. It was a major injury. I would be in the hospital for a long time, then on crutches for four months and pretty much a shut-in at home facing a long and difficult recovery.

So why do we put ourselves through this?!?
Do the ends justify the means? Read the post above and judge for yourself...

Random complaining...

Why is it that whenever you need one specific tool, that you can never find it, But you can find everything else in the world, including that one tool you needed for the last job you did..of course that ends up being the first thing you stumble across, though it was nowhere to be found back then...
So yeah, tried to make due with what I had, and failed miserably...and repeatedly...
So I gave up. Went back inside, sat down and just chilled out for a while. Literally 20 minutes later I had one of those eureka moments, where literally you can see the lightbulb turn on above my head. Less than a minute later (with proper tool in hand) I was able to complete the job. What I had fought with for over two hours (and failed) I finished in about 5 minutes...
The Moral of the story... use the right tool for the right job, and 4 out of 5 dentists prefer trident for their patients who chew gum.

Happity Birthday to me...I guess :)

You know, this really kinda sucks. Not that I'm turning into an old man or anything (36 this year) but that my Friggin birthday is on a Wednesday this year. Can there be a worse day of the week to have a Birthday?!? I guess I shouldn't complain, as my 21st birthday happened to fall on a friday...man that was a good day (the next day, not so much, but I digress...).
Oh well, that's all, just wanted to vent there for a minute...

Arcade fiesta , Upcoming Auction, Resurrection
Ok, so I've decided that I'm going to bring this back, since it's going to be easier to update this blog than to keep republishing my webpages. So basically, any news, updates, things going on, new acquisitions, repairs, etc, that don't need to be added to the individual pages will be posted here. That way I can put more information up on a regular basis, and not do so many page edits.
I'll start off by sending a big thanks to cnlmoore from the KLOV group for his great arcade party this past Saturday. Pics (including some of yours truly) and details are available at www.rotheblog.com and www.tokensonly.com Everyone had a great time, and Chris has a great setup of games (and had a nice spread of food and drink to boot!) Hope this becomes an annual tradition as I will definitely go back next year!

(Image from tokensonly.com)

The next Superauctions in the St Louis (Belleville) area will be Saturday Nov 22nd. Looking forward to it as always, and hope to see a lot of KLOVer's there. My Brother in law may be attending with me, so I will for once actually have some room to pick up more than one game :)

That's all for now...
