Tron: Legacy Quick Thoughts

A few things I took away from the midnight screening...(No Spoilers)
1. Place was almost full with only a few scattered empty seats, pretty good sign on a frigid midwestern thursday night. Just read it made 3.5 million on the midnight screenings, apparently matching what Avatar did, but coming well short of Harry Potter and Twilight.
2. I was one of the oldest people there... I'd say 90% of the people there were around college age. And they seemed to really enjoy it.
3. People have said it's great on visual and somewhat weak on story... In my opinion, there is a bit of truth to that. Then again, wasn't the original more about the visual too?
4. I'm guessing as long as the film makes a decent amount of money, we'll be seeing a sequel in the next couple of years. If I had a criticism of the film, ,it would be that the movie almost seemed incomplete to me, almost like they were planning the sequel before finishing the movie they were filming.

All in all I thought it was a great movie, one that I will definitely go see again.
I give it a 0b1000 out of 0b1010
or was that /

Gameroom Update

Here's some pics from my ArcadeCrusade photo album. Winter has definitely descended down upon our humble state, so it will probably be a while before any changes are made to the gameroom. Sure has come a long way in the past few months. Here it is as it sits today...

Just a few things left to do... I have to figure out what I am going to do about the floor, I have to trim out the windows, and put up some shades or drapes, and finish decorating... Oh, and of course finish moving in the games.

I think I'm pretty well done buying for now, but the last three games I'll be hunting for is a Pac or Ms. Pac, a Star Wars, and a Tron. May have to trade/sell off a few to get everything to fit, since I still have Burgertime, Phoenix, Tank II, Blitz 99, and my MAME cab in the basement. Or I could just take over the other half of the garage :D
Next on the "restoration" agenda is the Tetris in Robotron cab -> MultiWilliams. Should be fun!
Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas Everyone!

Belleville Auction Results Posted

Just posting to say I have the Belleville auction results up on the site, and I have a few videos over on youtube of the games...
Auction results Here
And You Tube vids here

Picked up the "Super Sports" which is actually a "Championship Shootout" pool game. Very nice woodgrain cab though, which is why I picked it up, good monitor too. It's a jamma setup with the slideout control panel to make accessing the game boards easy so it may become my horizontal jamma cab, but I'm not sure yet. Looks like the monitor will rotate in it as well. I'll post some pics soon.

Auction St Louis 8/31

The "rescheduled" Belleville auction took place in St Louis yesterday 8/31. I have the results posted here.
Interesting auction, seemed like there was a lot of stuff there, but I'm not sure if there was more than normal, or if the place it was held was just smaller. Either way, not a whole lot of good stuff there, but the prices were pretty low, definitely a buyers auction if there was anything there you were interested in buying. Here are some pictures taken by fellow KLOVer "Caldwert":

I was there with my brother in law and picked up a 280 Zzzap for $20, he picked up 2 cigarette machines for 10 bucks each (for scrap metal, those things weigh a ton, well not really but they are heavy)
Pics of the cab (and the smokes machines) coming...

More Gameroom progress

More progress on the gameroom...
Started taping and mudding today, bear in mind I am far from a pro at any of this so, please refrain from any cheap shots at my lack of skills in the drywall department :D

All (well most, soon to be all) of the games are pushed to the back, so I can mud the front, then I will switch, move everything to the front and mud the back... then paint, decorations, and a big ol throwdown fiesta.

You can see the new King Of Route 66 in the pic above...
More pics of it on my ArcadeCrusade page... here

A Time To Kill... some invaders

Space Invaders is Alive :D
After installing a replacement power supply and the Braze multikit, it is now working...
See my SI page for video... now to clean up the cab...
Did a little more work on the website, and a little more on the gameroom. I just need to go pick up a new entry door so I can finish the drywalling, and get the mud, taping and painting done...
What color should I paint? Suggestions are now being accepted. I do have some mustard yellow left over from my Burgertime resto... I can't see the whole room being that color though... maybe some accents though :D
St Louis Auction in 2 weeks.

New addition

Going to pick up a Space Invaders project tomorrow... down in St Louis, which means... WHITE CASTLES! Mmmmmm time to pick up a crave case...
Got a decent deal on it, pics look good, but who knows what it really looks like in person. I figure for what I paid, worst case scenario, I can part it out (if it's reaally bad, and get what I paid for it back (and maybe enough to cover the gas and sliders)... Seller is throwing in two spare board sets.
couple pics...

monitor issues:

All in all it looks like it could be a good deal. I'll try to put up more pics tomorrow night (and update the main website)

Apparently the Milwaukee auction was a bust... hoping that the Belleville auction doesn't suffer the same fate (well at least there's brewmania if it is...)

Hope to have some update pics of the game room online soon... still working out there when I can (when it ain't colder than the proverbial thaumaturgic mammary in a form-fitting bodice of metal)

Website Maintenance

Just made some minor updates to the website, nothing huge, but there may be a few broken links and the like... I also moved the Blog page from the blogspot server to my homepage, so you may get a "redirect" page if you try accessing from the old redwolfarcade.blogspot.com page.
On another web related note, I was able to get most of my stuff off of the old Geocities site before they closed it... I had no idea how much stuff I had up there and just linked to it from the new page, until they closed it and all of those photos and pages went bye-bye... so yeah there's a few pictures that I haven't fixed yet, I mean it's only been 3 months since Geocities closed, you didn't really expect me to fix it that quickly did you?
I also embedded some YouTube videos of some of my games on their relevant pages, and more will be forthcoming.
SuperAuctions looks like they may only have two dates in St Louis/Belleville this year, April 3 and August 7th, unless they are planning on having a date in Collinsville later in the year as they have done in the past.

A brief non-arcade, but classic gaming related news item, Atari is re-releasing the "Flashback 2" console in February for $29.99 Preorders are being taken now and come with a free Atari 2600 T-Shirt. More Details here: http://www.atari.com/games/atari_flashback2_plus
Lastly, it's cold and snowy here, so I wouldn't expect any updates on the gameroom or any projects for a few months. Winter in Central Illinois sucks (though probably not nearly as bad as say Minnesota)
