A few things I took away from the midnight screening...(No Spoilers)
1. Place was almost full with only a few scattered empty seats, pretty good sign on a frigid midwestern thursday night. Just read it made 3.5 million on the midnight screenings, apparently matching what Avatar did, but coming well short of Harry Potter and Twilight.
2. I was one of the oldest people there... I'd say 90% of the people there were around college age. And they seemed to really enjoy it.
3. People have said it's great on visual and somewhat weak on story... In my opinion, there is a bit of truth to that. Then again, wasn't the original more about the visual too?
4. I'm guessing as long as the film makes a decent amount of money, we'll be seeing a sequel in the next couple of years. If I had a criticism of the film, ,it would be that the movie almost seemed incomplete to me, almost like they were planning the sequel before finishing the movie they were filming.
All in all I thought it was a great movie, one that I will definitely go see again.
I give it a 0b1000 out of 0b1010
or was that /

Look up my friend Blake on facebook. There's a (very brief) discussion of the criticisms of the film in his status. If you go and read it (or can - depending on his privacy settings), what are your thoughts? Would you have to know a lot of what he mentions going into the film to get it or can you figure it out just from seeing the movie?
I tried looking at your friend's page, but it looks like he has it set to private/friends only.
If you want you could post a summary of what he said, but I think with the movie, you don't really have to go in knowing anything at all about the original movie, and still enjoy it... but I think people who have seen and like the original probably like it more than those who haven't.
